Congratulations to Becki & Stephen on the safe arrival of Grace Lily, both mother and daughter are doing well !!

In January 2009 Jo Daly made a trip to Burkina Faso in West Africa. It is one of the poorest countries in the world. She went there with her husband Rob in 2006 to look at dental, medical and school facilities there.

This time she went into a village and helped with extractions in one of the poorest communities and visited a school to see how a donation from Rob could help the children. A classroom will be built for the children in Rob's name.

"The one thing very noticeable is how polite the children are and how friendly the people."   Because it was their winter the chidren were wearing woolly hats, though it was a lovely 20 + degrees to Jo.

At Easter 2009 Jo trekked the Inca trail to Machu Picchu  

The annual race for life took place on 14 th June 2009.   Emma Fraser joined hundreds of other ladies to run the 5km race and raised money for Cancer Research.

"This was the first time I had entered and I really looked forward to the day. The atmosphere was great and kept me running to the finish line.   I ran in memory of a family member and would like to say I will definitely do it again next year. Emma raised over £100.00 for cancer relief.

Peter Throw and his wife Claire took part in the Great North Run on 20 th September 2009 and raised funds for Dentaid.

Dentaid is the leading specialist oral health charity working to improve oral health in middle and low income countries.    In the last eleven years, Dentaid has assisted or helped establish nearly 200 oral health projects in over 50 countries.

Peter & Claire raised over £900.00 and would like to thank all those of you who donated to this cause

Congratulations to Lucy Wilson on gaining her dental nursing qualification. Lucy has been with us a year now and is a vital part of the nursing team keeping Jo, Peter & Emma on their toes!

  Lisa is now qualified to apply fluoride to patients and will be able to give oral hygiene instruction to clients at this visit. We will be hoping to make appointments for those who have problems with tooth decay to try and prevent a mouthful of fillings.

 

New Reception Refit                        

 

As some of you may of already seen we have a had a face lift in the reception area.     We hope that all of our patients like the new surroundings as we feel that it makes the room more comfortable and spacious. The new desk is at a much better height so not so much of a barrier to communications.

India February 2010 

Jo Daly will be travelling to India with Pam Suhadolnik of Chipmates Fish and chip shop in Haugton. They will be visiting the region of Nagpur and taking dental materials, toothbrushes and glasses for the Madia Gond Tribe. Jo will be providing dental care with Pam acting as nurse in the local clinics.    

  

 

Race for Life 2010

 

All the staff will be entering the Race for Life in 2010 apart from Peter (as a male he is not allowed) who will be doing the Darlington 10km in August and also the Great North run along with any of the staff who still have energy/ enthusiasm left after the race for life!
